In April of 2025, after a long battle with fibroids, I finally had the hysterectomy. The surgery went smoothly — one night in the hospital, then home. Two days later, something was wrong in ways the pain medicine couldn't hide. Back in the hospital, they found that my intestines had shut down completely — serious enough that the first thing my care team tested for was sepsis, the complication that kills. For five days I lived on IV fluids and water while a drain did its slow, humbling work — five days of lying still, waiting to find out whether my body would restart. On the fifth day, it did.
I'll spare you the rest of the details except the one that matters: when your body goes on strike, you learn very fast what you've been spending it on.
I came home changed. Not softer — clearer. A week like that strips everything down to what you actually stand for, and I got very specific about mine: honesty over convenience. Integrity over ease. Building things I'd be proud to put my name on, and refusing to build anything else. Those aren't marketing values. They're the values of someone who has watched her own body decide whether to keep going.
What followed was the quietest year of my life — and the most creative. While my body healed and my world got small, I made things. I created three complete card decks: a 78‑card Celestial Tarot, a 44‑card Animal Oracle, and the Reset Key. I finished four books I had been carrying for years, with more in the works — because for the first time, I allowed myself the time to write. I taught myself what I didn't know. I built the app you're standing in right now, and its sister worlds — Aether & Root, our parent house of decks and journals, and Laurel & Lantern Inn, a Victorian inn made entirely of sound. I became a certified travel advisor. I went quiet, and I built a small universe in the silence.

I once spent five days waiting for my body to restart. I don't waste time anymore — not mine, and not yours. This whole app is built on one rule: nothing fabricated, nothing exaggerated, nothing I wouldn't tell a friend.
That rule is load‑bearing. Every destination in the matching engine is real and researched — seasonal windows verified, activities confirmed to exist before they're ever recommended to you. Every product in the Travel Kit links directly to the brand's own website; when this site earns nothing from a recommendation, the disclosure says so plainly, because it's true. The app recommends destinations, not resorts with the biggest commission — there are no commissions steering it. And the card decks are my original artwork, every one, imagined and created during that quiet year. When you pull a card here, you're holding something a real person made while choosing to focus on love and hope, instead of hate or heartache.

The taste behind the curation
Before all of this, I trained as a chef — Le Cordon Bleu, President's List, years in restaurants and private estates. People sometimes ask what cooking has to do with travel. Everything. Hospitality is hospitality: reading what someone actually needs, caring about details they'll never notice consciously but will absolutely feel, and never serving anything you wouldn't proudly eat yourself.
I curate trips the way I plated food. Georgia raised me; the whole world fed me.
